Hi everybody, I just had to chime in. If this has been discussed before, forgive me for chiming in but something came to light last week and it literally changed my life overnight.
I have been on Lisinopril for over 40 years. It's the only blood pressure med I take. I also have post nasal drip for quite a few years. Who remembers? I am so used to blowing my nose after I have my morning coffee and clearing my throat I never thought about this.
Two weeks ago I began clearing my throat (it had more mucus than usual) and tried blowing my nose. I did not have a cold, (I never get them because I make my own colloidal silver and taking two tablespoons a day for years). It seems that nothing can live in silver so for me, so far so good. I don't get colds, flues, infections, whatever. Been lucky in that department.
But this darn post nasal drip was driving me crazy. I was seen by my doctor years ago and he looked down my throat and announced "yup, you have a lot of mucus there' and he gave me some kind of med (can't remember) but I stopped taking it and never thought much about it.
Till about 2 weeks ago when, for whatever reason, it could have been I was exposed to something or pollen (I had rose fever as a kid and had hot stuff squirted up my nose by a doctor) that was NOT fun. I remember it and I was about 5 years old.
Anyway I'm sitting in Dunkin Donuts with my friends and I happened to mention "I have this stupid post nasal drip and for whatever reason, it's driving me crazy and I'm always clearing my throat, and I'm tired of having a sore throat". The lady next to me said "are you on either Enalopril or Lisinopril?' I looked at her and said "I've been on Lisinopril since I was 26 years old. Either the brand name or generic". She said"That's what is giving you the post nasal drip"
I did not believe her. I went home, went on my computer and brother, did I get an education. Just google Lisinopril and Post Nasal Drip.
And what's the treatment that works? A Neti Pot (thank god I had one in my house). I had the little saline packets that come with the Neti Pot.
I used this little gadget twice that day and twice the next day, blew my nose and that was it.
Gone, finito, God Bless. Last night I bought this lady a nice ice cream at Dunkin and said to her 'you saved me". We all laughed.
See? What goes around, comes around. Or however the saying goes.
I had no clue about Lisinopril and post nasal drip.
Haven't had to clear my throat since I used the Neti Pot and THAT is a miracle.
Just wanted to share.
Melody
