You should tell your psychiatrist the Zoloft is insufficient and s/he should try an adjustment. If you're working with your GP, try to get to a psychiatrist if you have coverage - the GP can do basics, but the psychiatrists have more knowledge if you need to expand options. Everyone is so different that getting suggestions from us isn't really that helpful. The doctor needs to hear your details and apply her knowledge of how the meds work.
I was on Lexipro for a couple of years and it worked well in combination but then stopped working. Apparently sometimes this happens. So if you've been on it for a while, this could be the case?
I believe that generally if there's a bipolar issue, the SSRI would cause more of a manic issue right from the start - don't assume that anyway, bipolar is not just ups and downs. I am the wildest roller coaster ride of emotions over the past year... messed up brains.
Be well.

About me: Married 45yo mother of two girls. In July 2014, I hit my head on the side of the pool; since then I've had 3 lesser concussions, one of which was due to MVA.
For the 5-10 years prior to that I’ve had what I now realize were possibly 20+ undiagnosed concussions or sub-concussions. Likely most of these result from Duane's Syndrome, for which I now have prism glasses. Have successfully done vestibular therapy and plan to start vision therapy.
Current companions: Significant depression, anxiety, hyperacusis, difficulty with verbal expression (recall & word mixups), mild spacial/vestibular issues. Feelings of disconnect in relationships.
