New member, SFN
Hi, I am a new member to this board. I have been diagnosed with ideopathic SFN after about 1 1/2 years of burning, stabbing, electric shock "explosions" in my feet. I have been pre-diabetic but not diabetic for a couple of years. My dr told me I had a B12 deficiency about a year and a half ago but I have been taking supplements and am no longer deficient. I have been on Gabapentin for about 6 months but have gained about 25 pounds and am now getting awful acid reflux that I never had before. Now it will wake me up in the middle of a sound sleep with the feeling that I am going to throw up. I am thinking of stopping the Gabapentin because the nausea and acid reflux is continuing throughout the day. I can't afford to gain any more weight either. My dr. gave me a prescription to Lyrica, but after researching the side effects of that drug I don't want to take it either. I am very leery of drugs now because I was on Paxil for about 10 years for depression and wonder if this neuropathy might be from the long term use of that drug. I also took Naproxen for the neuropathy but it cause my feet to swell up so much I couldn't get my shoes on. The Gabapentin, 300 mg 3x day, is helping but the pain is still there.
