I think the nortriptyline is the better choice here.
It has been shown that amitriptyline (its precursor drug) can help with healing of peripheral nerves. So the active form of amitrip is nortriptyline. It is also suggested for chronic pain, by affecting the serotonin receptors in the central brain area that processes pain. Low doses seem to work quite well...these are far below antidepressant doses.

Nortriptyline is far less toxic also than Cymbalta.
Many posters here over the years have used it successfully.
It does take a while to start working.
You can search Nortriptyline in our search engine here and read other posts about it. Searching amitriptyline and "tricyclic" also will bring up many posts. I cannot give you those searches, as the software here won't allow second party linking of them.
Everyone is different, though. So you might do the nortriptyline first and give it several months to get working, and if you fail try another drug.
Do not take nortriptyline with other serotonin acting antidepressants, as this is not safe. It may lead to serotonin syndrome which can be a serious interaction.
