It's either that or the nursing home and since I am otherwise healthy, I'll probably live till 95+ and I'm too young for a nursing home. I'm hoping that DD will see that @ 500.00 per day, I won't need 24/7 care and will be able to do it on my own....God willing.

Take care all, you are on my mind.

I'm glad you're going to get to come home. I had no idea 24/7 care was so expensive!

My Dad's assisted living apartment was $3,500 a month and that included help with physical activities (transferring from bed to chair, bathroom help) and all meals! Plus his apartment.

I hope you discover that you can manage somewhat on your own and maybe only have help overnight. It might be something you learn that you like and want to keep, too. You'll just have to give it a try and see.

My Dad wanted to stay in his home but it was just too expensive (the 24/7 care). We had to sell the house in order to have enough money for the assisted living apartment. If I hadn't have had to work I could have taken care of him but I had a pretty busy job and didn't have MS yet back then.
Thank goodness his house was paid for and it sold quickly.

Will you get to have a say in who works for you? I hope you can find some nice folks to help you out. The people who took care of him at assisted living were so nice and he made some really good friends there between the residents and the workers. It was a really nice, cheerful place. Plus it kept him busy and active. Some of those ladies there could run circles around me.....and I wasn't even dealing with MS back then!

Keep us informed on how things are going for you. You're in my prayers every day.
