Hello Karen,
I am so sorry for all you've gone through. Life just changes on a dime! You have landed in a soft place though where we have a great group of supportive and caring people. Post traumatic neuropathy is a difficult animal to find information on. I have read that it tends to share some features with Complex regional Pain Syndrome but it is less complicated. That said some Treatments for CRPS may be of help to you since they are geared towards neuropathic pain.
If you are hitting a wall with neurology, a good Physical Medicine doc or Pain Management specialist may be of help. I also always encourage those with nerve injuries to consider a visit to a peripheral nerve specialist (usually plastics and reconstructive surgeons) to find out if anything can be done to address scar tissue, entrapment or laceration. A great resource for that is here

Keep at it on trying different meds. I myself felt like a depressed zombie on gabapentin but do just fine on nortriptyline for nerve pain. There are a lot of options. You might also like some of the compounded topical pain prescriptions to put on those toes.
Come see us and let us know how you're doing. I hope you find relief soon!
