Wow, that's quite an unfortunate family history. Unfortunately, none of us can control our genetics. Did they do vitamin D and B-12 testing on you yet?

The vitamin D and B-12 (methylcobalamin) supplements are pretty cheap and don't hurt anything if you take them and don't need it. (It is best to get tested first, to get baseline numbers - but on the other hand, you don't want to hold off on the supplements if you need them and your nerves are getting damaged worse by the day.)

With that family history, you might also want to consider genetic testing for the gene mutations affecting methylation. (If it's available in your country.) I had the testing done and found that I do have several mutations. I'm taking supplements to help with that, and seem to be doing better (or at least not any worse) since starting on them.
