I had lots of problems taking typical medications for this. I use a compounded cream that I get from a Compounding Pharmacy. My neurologist writes the prescription. In the cream is Gabapentin, Lidocaine and Capsaicin. I believe this special medication has provided for me the most help. It can be prescribed by any medical doctor, but it has to be filled by a special pharmacy. It didn't work at first, but did help a lot after perhaps ten days. I mention it because I also got bad facial nerve pain after a dental procedure. And I also had difficulties finding meds to help. This is different and not always easy to obtain, but it did help me a lot. It takes a special doctor willing to work with you and a specially trained pharmacist. I hope you find something to help ease your pain.

I also take by mouth a med very similar to Amitriptyline and Baclofen. These are tablets that I take by mouth. The cream is separate...and I rub that on the side of my jaw and near my ear.

Routine:
Cream with capsaicin, Lidocaine and Gabapentin
Amitriptyline Tablet
Baclofen Tablet

(In case you wish to talk with the doctor about this)

It has been a long, profoundly difficult road.

Don't give up!!!!!
