Amitriptyline is not a sleeping pill that I'm aware of. The dosage can be adjusted so you find it useful for pain relief and yet not feel groggy the following day, you have to work with your Dr to find the correct dose for you. The initial grogginess also gets less with time. I've been taking this for 10 months and it has helped me a lot.
