Hi Parttime,

Welcome to the forum! I could be wrong but I've had epilepsy for 43 yrs. and what you are describing sounds like a jamais vu seizure which is like sitting in your living room and nothing looks familiar to you and you're not sure where you are. I've had this happen to me before.

My advice to you is for your family Dr. to refer you to see an Epileptologist which is a Dr. that specializes in epilepsy. These Dr. can do special tests and find out if you are having seizures or if there's another problem going on.
I do know that trauma and lack of sleep are the 2 main things that can trigger seizures for a person. You should have an e.e.g. done, along with a CT scan PET and SPECT scan to be sure especially since you have PTSD. Try taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day to see if that helps you and cut back on the carbs and starch foods. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
