"What it's like when going in, knowing that it could make things worse". Oh boy. One of the most agonizing decisions we've had to make. It really came down to a couple of things: 1, He has wanted the hardware out for many months because he felt it was the source of most of his problem. 2, It was either risk permanent disability and limitation because of hardware related pain, or take the chance with the surgery for a full recovery. We wanted to give him every chance to get better.
The ortho surgeon gave him a 50 / 50 chance that it could make things worse or better. Other doctors were much more optimistic. But yeah, it was a pretty terrible decision to face as a parent!! I'm grateful for the support here.

I do not know what it is like to recover after the surgery when going in, knowing that you have CRPS, that it could make things worse if the precautions are not done. I am so happy to hear that it sounds like everything went very well. Again, wishing him a speedy pain free recovery.
