Hi Amanda,
It's important to remember that the quality of your partner's time off of work is as important as the quantity. She needs as much quality rest as possible, which means really cutting down on time using the TV, computer, driving, etc. Another key component of this is living the most stress-free lifestyle, because stress and anxiety can really prevent recovery or even make symptoms worse. It's hard, but at least you have each other for support during this time.
Of course this is just my advice coming from my experiences, like Mark said everyone's injuries/setbacks/recoveries are different.
