I have more loss of fine finger coordination and sometimes aches or pains in the back of hands or the wrist joint gets sore - but nothing that you can see like you describe.

I have those same back of hand and wrist joint pains, but my coordination is still okay. Yeah, the redness goes away after maybe five or 10 minutes, and it doesn't look anything like when my veins swell up so I'm thinking you're right about a little nerve compression or something more minor like that. Thanks for the input!
