Thank you as always, MrsD. I think I'll take my 100 mg of stabilized R with food, either lunch or dinner in that case. I would rather have a little less absorption and avoid potential stomach upset, if the difference is negligible.

The food warning pertains to the old racemic version which is poorly soluble. That type showed up to 30% reduction of absorption with food. (the reference for this is on the Linus Pauling Institutes's lipoic acid page).
