I'm sorry you have to worry about the possibility of losing Abby soon You can give her tons of love and the best quality of life while she is still with you.

I think having a new pet to love to help fill the void is a good idea. Many, many people do the same. It doesn't mean you love Abby any less.

My cat Buddy is 9 and has a heart murmur and I'm afraid I will lose him some day soon. He is my favorite, and is very close to me. I would want to fill that void, too. But I have two other cats, and my husband would not allow me to adopt another one.
