Also,
The SSID route may go through the path of being put on disability through an insurance company first. I know that with many insurance companies, after you have been receiving their disability benefits for a given amount of time, it is part of their policy to move you over onto the SSID next. You must qualify for both the insurance coverage first and then the SSID after the set amount of time. I don't know if the above explanation is the way the system is set up for everyone, quite a few, or a few policies. I just know that this is the way I've heard that it works for some. So, please, don't take what I've written here as the Gospel truth.

Hi Spike,
I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean I have to seek out a disability insurance company or that it should already be apart of my company? As for working for the government we have nothing like that so if I went out on FMLA leave I won't be paid unless I have saved up my annual and sick leave days. I know in the private sector, most companies have insurance to help you out while you're out on leave I think they give you like 30 or 40% of your actual earnings ect. But can you explain more about what you said please, maybe I'm just not getting it. Sorry.
