Default Right foot/leg cramping 2 years after microdiscectomy

In February of 2014, I herniated a disc L4/L5 and underwent surgery about 36 hours later. Since then I have had moderate numbness in my right foot, making it feel like my sock is bunched up under my three middle toes. Annoying, but manageable.

Over the last week, I have been experiencing severe night cramping in my right foot, moving into my calf. In May of 2015 I had returned to my surgeon as I was concerned about the numbness in my foot and the fact that I now walked with a limp. I admittedly did not follow up with my post-surgery exercise routine and he (very adamantly) blamed any and all post-surgery issues on that alone.

I take responsibility for that, but this leg cramping thing has me concerned, as my cousin had the same thing happen with his arm a few years after neck surgery, and it was discovered he had bone spurs. Thoughts, anybody?

Thanks!
