Hi Carlos
Welcome to NT.
You've been through a lot for some one your age. I can't specifically say what has caused your neuropathy. There are more than 100 different types of neuropathy with just as many causes. Diabetes is one of the conditions more frequently associated with it. Being in a coma, by itself, is not a cause of neuropathy that I've read about, however you never know. It's possible that muscle wastage due to inactivity could cause nerve irritation once those muscles are used again.
There's a possibility of medication induced neuropathy from drugs during the time you were hospitalized. If you were given antibiotics for your pneumonia then some types can cause PN. Do you have (or can you get) a list of the medications you were given? This may be important to figure out before your gastric surgery as they will give you antibiotics during that. It would be useful to tell them you have PN and to request that if possible they use antibiotics that are not known to cause or aggravate PN.
Just reread your original post and noted the major organ failure. Are you currently on any meds for that?
For now I would leave the acupuncture and massage - both have been known to cause PN flare ups. You could try an Epsom Salt Lotion or a product called BioFreeze. Use the search feature on the toolbar above to find info on these.
All the best for finding solutions.
