My grandmother moved into assisted living a couple of years before she passed away. She was resistant to the idea at first, but she ended up loving it there. It was really nice for her to be around other people instead of stuck at home alone all the time. We did have home health care in there, and later hospice, when she needed it. The main drawback is the expense… very, very expensive.
