Since Rytary (extended release) is a brand name product and looks like no generics yet, has he tried the generic carb/lev to see how he does with it?
Sometimes you can contest an insurance denial of a medicine.
If the doctor writes to the ins and explains why this is needed.
He may be required to do a test on a similar generic and the dr documents if it does, or does not work .
If it does not , the doctor confirms that only this brand name product works for this person.
It is worth a try.. ask about this at the drs office. they should know what is needed.
And pharmacies do vary greatly in pricing so always check around to find the lower cost on each Rx.
