Symbacort has two drugs in it. One is a long acting bronchodilator like the Ventolin (albuterol) and the other is a
steroid.

It is to be used daily, as directed only...with no doses increased or added to it. It has to be used daily to PREVENT asthma, and is not for rescue symptoms like the Ventolin.

The albuterol does have adrenergic (adrenaline) actions and if overused or used WITH the Symbicort, can give stimulant side effects (tremors and/or racing heart).

If you do not use the inhalers correctly you can deposit the drugs on the inside of your throat, and have systemic reactions and side effects. The goal is to inhale the mist so it gets to the lungs.

Some people deposit drug on the throat when putting the inhaler in the mouth... for them...a spacer is handy to allow for only inhaling the mist generated by the inhaler. You can discuss this with your pharmacist.
Some spacers are expensive.. others not. You can even make one yourself.
