I am chiming in late, but I have been away...

Several years ago, my foot surgeon recommended New Balance, but also gave me a caution. Go to a shoe store, not to a discount or department store. New Balance makes at least two "lines" of shoes - the economy ones (I can get them at Kohl's for about $40 - $60, less on sale) and their premium line with better support, instep, breathing, etc.

In Wisconsin, we have several franchise shore stores actually called "The New Balance Store". They have well-trained fitters to get you into the correct shoe. There is a wider variety, also. You will look at the model numbers at the franchise store and not find those same models at discounters. Interesting marketing technique... My last pair cost $125 and I feel they are worth every penny.

I didn't do this, but you could look for New Balance on web and see if they list francise store locations.

Good luck,

Mike
