I used to have sciatica fairly frequently, and what you describe sounds like what I remember of sciatica: really intense, sharp pain in that area.

My neurologist said the sciatica was not related to any of the other nerve problems I had from low B12.

But after a significant amount of B12 replacement therapy I've never had sciatica again... so I distrust him on that.

In my experience doctors behave as if there is a huge peg board of diseases and each disease/condition has its own little hole for its round little peg to fit into.

I don't think that's a good way of approaching health...

I think that the nerves are responsible for a huge amount of things that go wrong with the body, and from my experience low B12 is a real culprit...

I sure wish my doctors had treated my "profound B12 deficiency" much sooner and much better.
