Default My 11 yr old just had Nerve Block

Morning,

On Monday my 11 yr old, just had his first nerve block, he has CRPS on both feet. My little man is bed ridden, and has not been to school for 3 months.

So I was FINALLY able to find a Dr, here in South Florida that would treat him. It is very difficult to be seen by a Pain Dr. when your son is 11. I called every Hospital based Pain Mgt Program form the keys to West Palm Beach, even the University of Miami Pain fellowship program to get him seen, none of them would see him. Finally, I started calling all the private practice Pain Dr's. After calling 75 One of them, I was able to find an amazing Dr. who would see him. We were seeing a Peds. Pain Dr, but she does not do any invasive procedures, only lots of meds and Physical therapy, problem is, its both feet and he cant tolerate the car rides there or back to the house, he is in major pain for several hours after car rides.

On Monday he had his first Never Block, I believe it was both sides on L2 and L4. Its been great for him so far, My wife has been able to put the ketamine lotion on his feet, the only time she had been able to do it when he was asleep. On Tuesday, he was able to use a walker and walk 20 feet, first time in 3 months. and yesterday, he and I swam in the pool for 30 minutes.

Its been amazing so far, and the plan of attack is for him to have 3 Nerve blocks, every 2 weeks.

Hopefully these nerve blocks will reduce the pain enough, that he can start physical therapy again.
