I think labeling requires the ethyl esters be labeled, and the "natural" forms of triglycerides not. Ethyl esters cost more to make and therefore cost more to sell.

Ethyl esters are chemically synthetic and would perhaps need
that on the label. The RX Lovaza fish oil says "ethyl esters".

I always suspected that the RX form was made this way so doctors would not recommend the natural forms available OTC.
