Hello,
The aching pain down to your shin sounds like sciatic pain. Of course it is not appropriate to diagnose over the computer but the restrictions in movement and the pain you describe pretty much fit a sciatic nerve inflammation.
One excercise that may help, although I don't know what your usual capabilities are, is to lean forward against a wall with your arms, or elbows, which ever you can manage then extend your bad leg back(as if doing a ballet move). This will take the strain off the nerve and might give some relief.
Of course it will take a doctor or physiotherpaist to diagnose properly and with a bit of luck it may just need some physio and anti-inflammatories to help you.
I hope you can get relief soon
regards Tayla
