I forgot to mention that I'm also interested in learning about the basic structure of the nervous system, in order to better understand some of the research papers I've been reading. I've realized that I don't have a good understanding of things such as DNA, genes, gene expression, cells, mitochondria etc. etc.

Can anyone recommend some good introductory material (preferably on the web) which covers these things?
