You are right, a hat is supposed to help but it does make my head hotter. The same is true for cooling vests, at least for me. When I was on Copaxone I'd save the ice packs that came as part of the packaging. I used to bring them with me everywhere. They last a while.
I did that too--they were very handy.

I wore my hat out today for the first time this year--and regretted it. It did prevent the sun from baking my head but as soon as I got home and took it off I realized how hot my head was getting anyway.
