I have my own wheelchair to avoid the scooter hunts... But still despise going to Walmart, and I do go sedated . I make sure I go when my drugs are at their most effective time and tell the DH that he has so long to get whatever it is we need and get out. (Which normally means heading to check out a good 30 mins before hand.) I would avoid it like the plague and generally do but sometimes I just have to suck it up and go there, like getting the GS his bike it was cheaper than the ones in stock at Kmart and at the rate he's growing the bike isn't going to last that long to justify spending extra $20 on it.

But Publix did disappoint me today a little bit... They didn't have any juice except organic lemonade on sale and one that had tons of sugar in it. I always count on the BoGo's for the GB's juices, they will drink me out of house and home long before they eat me out. And I can never seem to get stocked up enough on juice for them. I have tried. I've bought ten bottles when it's a BoGo sale and somehow by the end of the week I'm looking at one lone bottle sitting half empty in the fridge.

But when it comes to watermelons, I don't think I've ever picked up a bad one... Are you making sure you're thumping? They need to have a nice hollow sound, some people knock on them but I have never found that to work as well as thumping them... Where you flick your middle finger off your thumb and thump it against the melon, if you get a solid dull kind of 'thunk' back then try another melon. And also make sure that it feels more to the heavy side. Two melons of roughly the same size the one that feels heavier is the more ripened one but should also not be overripe (giving the slime factor). And when in doubt, ask the people in charge of produce. At least at Publix they'll do that for us, where they'll go over and check any of the fresh produce and help you pick it out and if there's a problem with it, you can go back there and let them know for an exchange or a refund. Of course that might just be because not too many people know about that so shhhhh... But they used to do the same thing at the Market Basket's back in NH too, so I imagine it's something offered everywhere if you ask.
