The Theory of how it works is that it takes the good signals from a good limb and implants them in a bad limb. It has good results for patients with RSD and CRPS and has shown results so well that the Cleveland Clinic started doing some experimental work with it a few years ago with patients that were not using any other types of therapy. From what I understand the Cleveland Clinic dropped it, they found they have more long lasting and positive quality of life with their anti-anxiety methods, desensitizing, anti-convulsives.

Cleveland Clinic Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program where organizations like the American Chronic Pain Association came from. One of the few places in the world that has a program like this. The Mayo Clinic and CCF are the only two I know of.
