A minute of struggling to be aware of what happened is usually concussion related confusion. But, being startled by the impact and needing to stop to realize what you just did is not necessarily a concussion. A sub-concussive impact likely but it takes hundreds of those to be a problem.

No strange tastes, vision disturbances, etc ?
Mark, do you have any information on the statement that initial dazed/confusion is necessary for a concussion?

I've seen on many locations that even a headache after hitting your head is indicative of a mild TBi, even without any consciousness symptoms.
