I took it at 10 mg, black cherry flavored which you eventually get used to. the only side effect for me was being sleepy in the morning for about the first week, that side affect went away as well. I found it to be a really good medicine, I would take it as I climbed into bed because it does work fast to put you to sleep, better than seroquel. I probably had about a 15 min window to get into bed before I passed out. which was good for me because I have had a lot of sleep issues. it had less side effects than seroquel as far as sleepiness and helped to make the negative, racing, looping thoughts go away. the only bad thing, and it was more likely because I took seroquel for a long time, my dr had to take me off all APs because I was developing metabolic syndrome. after 3 months of no sleep, despite ambien, and some others, I asked to be put back on the saphris, I was never so happy as the next morning after 10 hours of sleep.
