I hope I haven't discouraged you from trying this. ALA really helped my husband's PN. He had no adverse side effects. He took 600mg/day of ALA divided in three doses. He now uses R-ALA...about 100 Mg/day. Two of his supplements contain R-ALA which adds up to about 100 mg.

But it is good to do your research before adding a supplement and start low and go slow. And since the liquid form is supposed to be more effective, you may need as much. Everyone is different and finding what works for you is important.
