But I have not had the experience you describe. One thing I have had, though (which I think may have been caused by some of the beating my head has taken) is a detached retina in one eye. It caused quite a few odd visual abnormalities. So, when I read your post, I wondered if you've had your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist. You probably have.
