StevenD, I agree with your opinion about the place in AZ.

As far as I know the only form of stem cell therapy that there is currently good evidence for is bone marrow transplants. These come in different formats but all depend in the fact that bone marrow contains stem cells which can produce all of the different kinds of blood cells. What this means is that a bone marrow transplant can often but not always be effective in treating otherwise intractable blood cell cancers and related disorders.

There are many other forms of stem cell therapy under experimental investigation. Some might turn out to be effective, others might not. Time and more work will tell.
