Hi baba222

I'd never heard of Marinol, (active ingredient dronabinol), but I have PN so was curious and googled it. Came across this blog which says: "Prescription dronabinol has been studied for postoperative and neuropathic pain and was not found to be any better than placebo."

Here's the link to the site:
Marinol vs Marijuana: What's the Difference? - The GoodRx Prescription Savings Blog - GoodRx

If you haven't already you may also want to check out Sativex which is a prescription medication derived directly from the marijuana plant and is prescribed for certain painful conditions, (it may have prescribing restrictions). Dronabinol is a synthetic chemical form of THC.

Here's another link to a review of various research of cannabinoid for pain management. It was published in 2008 so there's probably more current info out there if you search for it.

Cannabinoids in the management of difficult to treat pain

Hope this of use to you and others.
