Pdocs don't prescribe the form of lithium you were taking because it's not effective in managing bipolar disorder, so it wasn't a fair trial.
There are a lot of mood stabilizers out there, many that you may not have tried. I'm sure if you pressed your pdoc about switching from Geodon to a new mood stabilizer, she could come up with a new med plan if that is something you are truly interested in doing.
You have the support of a competent therapist right now. Maybe after you address the possibility of ADD and treatment, reevaluating your BP med plan might be of interest.
