Cheri,

This topic caught my eye. I am glad the humidifier is working well for you. A question for you, though. I live in Utah where the air is very dry. In the summer it is not bad in the house because most of us have evaporative coolers instead of refrigerated air, and that puts humidity into the air.

Because of nose bleeds I was getting due to very dry air my doctor recommended that I use a humidifier. In the past I just had the hot air vaporizer going all of the time. I put in on top of the stove. However, when I tried a cold air humidifier, we had a big problem. I started itching periodically, and I didn't know what was causing it. Before that my nose was very irritated. I was beginning to think that the itching was from anxiety - some weird panic attack, as it would occur when I first woke up. As it progressed, though I found that a Benadryl at night did help. Ordinarily I take AllegraD.

One day when my husband was cleaning out the filter on the humidifier and he found this horrible looking jelly like gooey substance, and it was black. I think my culprit was Black Mold. After emptying the filter, we tried another one. I developed allergies again, but not as bad......but we switched back to the hot air vaporizer.

Does any of this make sense to you? If so your comments would be appreciated.

Judy
