Yes, Annie's right. When you are finally discharged from the ER (or the hospital, whatever happens), ask for copies of your labs and tests to take with you. Tell them you'll need them when you see the specialists. They should give them to you. Those are useful for your doctor, but also if you go to see other doctors (at Shands or wherever). Hopefully they would send the records to your local doctors, but then you'll have the records with you in case they are slow or there is a mix-up.
