Default Burning in Mouth 7 Weeks After Tooth Extractions

Hello Everyone

7 weeks ago I had my two front upper incisors extracted. I'd had one root canalled 20 years ago and the other was root canalled in December but the rct failed and despite being opened up several times I could not shift the pain so I elected for extraction in March. Since the extraction things have not been easy. I was given an immediate denture but had to take it out after 18 hours due to throbbing pain. In the week following I developed a terrible infection - the dentist said I had dry socket too but I didn't make it to the dentist in time to have treatment for the dry-socket so he gave me amoxicillin and then followed up by metronidazole for a week.
Since then I have had continued pain and a burning sensation in the roof of the mouth in the palatine rugae area. This is a constant discomfort and the whole roof of my mouth feels tight and sore. There is no redness, no obvious swelling or absecsses or anything to be seen with the eye - the soreness feels like it is all below the surface.

I am very scared and worrying about this a lot. I am usually a very upbeat person but after 6 months of dental pain first with the need for a root canal, then having the root canal fail and now this I am becoming a shadow of my former self. I have lost 2 stones in weight and I spent my time worrying. I no longer wear the denture as it irritated my palate too much but the burning continues regardless of whether I wear the denture or not.

I have seen my dentist who has taken an xray and he says the extracion site is healing as he would expect, he couldn't say why the palate was burning like it is.

I have been to three different dentists since november last year so I am reluctant to go to another one and would like to stick with this guy but I am afraid that I am losing faith in him since he doesn't know what's wrong.

I should mention that I was also referred to the dental hospital a month back for investigations into trigeminal neuralgia and saw a specialist who said I probably didn't have TN since the symptoms don't match up although nothing was tested and I was only briefly examined.

The pain is bad but I can live my life with it....I guess I'd put it at a 5/6.

Could it be an infection that the dentist hasn't detected on the xrays? Or could this just be normal healing after an extraction? The extraction was ok and the teeth came out whole and relatively easily but the dentist has commented that there was lots of infection underneath the teeth.

I've also been given sertraline medication for anxiety by my doctor due to my levels of distress at the whole situation

Can anyone help?
