It seems your emotional feelings run deep. Please be assured this is not ranting. I can imagine seeing him looking well and like the brother you use to know had to be difficult to see him go down. The fact that he did, even if only for a while, come back to his old self is good. Brings hope that tho a "down" is back; he knows the way "up" again.
