Ice is terrible.

Ice is also a godsend for me.

Icing my hand will always cause pain but it causes it later (mostly) rather than right at the moment. It will create pain where none existed. But it will also completely extinguish even the highest level pain immediately. It's not something I relish but if I get the screaming pain it goes into ice for several seconds (or longer).
