I understand from searches there could be a major link to inflammation and mental health. I have become very interested in natural approaches as opposed to the normal treatments. I am not a professional, but a parent very interested in helping my daughter and hopefully others. DMSO came up in my searches.
It appears there have been excellent results with stroke and may other issues including cancer.Silver is another interest, and sometimes the two are used together. Chiropractic "physicians" , who deal with inflammation have been looking at inflammation as related to mental health. There are other issues as well, as in hormone imbalance, etc...but the HSMO is also worth looking into.
