I agree with kiwi except I think you should get even more serious. You should seek out a psychiatrist who has experience with brain injuries. It sounds like you may have suffered an injury to the part of the brain that deals with impulsive thoughts. Proper diagnosis and treatment is important.
Psychologists are not usually allowed to prescribe meds or order medical tests. An MD psychiatrist or neuro-psychiatrist can do both.
A neuro rehab hospital may be a good place to call to find such a specialist. A neuro psychologist affiliated with a neuro rehab hospital may also be able to help.
One term for a symptom like yours is perseveration.
