It sounds more like a gouge and soft tissue injury. They can be quite painful. The sharp pain can trigger all sorts of responses. You already know how you are prone to extreme reactions to any bumps. Anxiety can easily cause you confusion about right vs left. If you saw how often I get flustered and reverse what I am trying to say, you'd learn to accept how the brain can get messed up without a concussion.

Are you screwed? Only if you choose to be.

btw, I have a hard time with the forces involved if it was a concussion. If you hit it with enough force to be a concussion, you would have busted the hinges to the door. If you tried to hang from the door, you would tear it off. That is just 1 G of force. You endure 4 to 10 Gs walking down steps.

If you had come up quickly under the fixed cabinet, I'd be more concerned.
