Are you screwed? Only if you choose to be.

btw, I have a hard time with the forces involved if it was a concussion. If you hit it with enough force to be a concussion, you would have busted the hinges to the door. If you tried to hang from the door, you would tear it off. That is just 1 G of force. You endure 4 to 10 Gs walking down steps.

If you had come up quickly under the fixed cabinet, I'd be more concerned.
thanks for the response.

just got back from the ER. Doc said I "without a doubt have a concussion" ... I threw up shortly after getting to the ER, then threw up an hour later and feel like I need to throw up right now. My balance is off, like I am drunk. My entire head has a severe pressure in it. I am completely out of it. & the lump is massive. like, even more massive than from any punch I've ever taken. it's like a golf ball. the good news he said is the risk of a bleeding or serious brain injury is around 1% because of where I hit the skull (front left (haha I just typed "right" again) side) is the hardest bone in the body. he also said the advil was fine and I could even take another tonight. they gave me a shot of stong anti-nauseant ...guess it hasn't kicked in yet, because I still feel pukey.

I don't think I described the injury well enough...the *thick* cupboard door was wide open, so that only the (very thick) edge was facing me. I practically ran into the thing, when frantically going to grab my oven mitts (pork chops were burning) and WACK. like, i felt rubbery in the legs and immediately queasy and there was a flash of white. it was more than just stars. it was bad. this lump is massive.

I don't know, I don't want to believe it is a concussion...because I am scared about what's to come.

good thing I have some benzos just in case...

happy new year.
