I don’t know much about nerve regeneration so I can’t answer that. But I would get another MRI and compare it to the last one. It sounds to me like it’s coming from your spine and hip. Have you kept up with your exercises and therapy? If you had back pain for years and your nerve was compressed it isn’t always a quick and lasting fix. Especially if you don’t know what caused it initially so you continue to aggreviate it.
