500 calories a day is not a lot for a grown man... keep an eye on him.
And 2 day diet of any kind is not going to do much, and any kind of weight he does lose will be hard to keep off, especially if he continues to drink.
Do you still plan on doing the military diet? The calorie counting sounds like a real PITA, and now you don't have a partner for support...
There are other diets out there that must be easier to follow if you are interested. Maybe someone on the forum has some ideas?
