Default pain in adjacent tooth after extraction (3 weeks)

upper right molar was extracted (number 2 I believe),which was not root-canal treated. it was overly sensitive, since it moved out its socket due to the tooth below missing as well. I decided for extraction (not a fan of RC)
now I do have weird pain sensation what appears tooth number 3. tooth is also NOT root-canaled. initially tooth number 3 was sensitive to strong pressure. that pressure pain went away in week 2 however for the most, although if I bite stronger down on it, it still hurts.
what remains is a weak dull pain in number 3. it comes and goes during the day, and is annoying enough that I do take 1 aleve at night most of the time, which does take it away 100%.
2 visits to my dentist - nothing, was brushed off. - dentist grinded some old filling on that tooth. had 0 pain during grinding process.
what else can be wrong? where do I go next? I feel my current dentist won't offer much other then root-canal.
