Default Paget-Schroetter Syndrome

I was just diagnosed with Paget Schroetter and will have rib resection surgery next month. One day my right arm started swelling and turning blue. It took a few days for my doctors to realize they didn't know what was happening and sent me to the ER. Luckily my ER docs knew to do an ultrasound right away. I had a massive clot in the subclavian and axillary veins due to Paget-Schroetter syndrome. The clot is gone, my my vein is still in danger of collapsing under my clavicle. I will have rib resection surgery next month.
Have any of you out there had rib resection surgery?
I am wondering - how long did recovery take before you were able to be active again? I teach group fitness classes and love exercising...it keeps me mentally healthy...and I am anxious to know when I might realistically be able to start building strength and endurance again.
I am also curious about how many women have PS or TOS. I read that if affects men 2-1 over women.
I'd love to hear more experiences with recovery from the rib resection surgery!

Thanks!
Caren
